Manufactured with a tough naval brass outer sleeve these bearings are designed for common use in strut and stern tube mounts and can be used effectively as rudder-stock and pintle bushings. The external brass shell is machined and polished to provide easy fitting while the bearing diameters are precision machined to the designated shaft size with the correct clearance for efficient water lubrication. The specially compounded nitrile rubber is securely bonded to the shell with all tolerances maintained to ensure proper lubrication integrity. Johnson employs the highest quality materials that are inherently resistant to all known chemicals, oil and grease to ensure a non-corrosive anti-electrolytic bearing. Sleeve bearings are usually installed by light press-fitting and locked in place with cone-pointed set screws.
The naval brass cutless bearing have full type approval from the American Bureau of Shipping and are available in either imperial or metric sizes with custom diameter available upon request. Designed for shaft sizes from 3/4" to 6-1/2" (19.05mm to 165.10mm).
